The Shonana design system
One mark, one typeface, three colours, four prints. Everything Shonana makes — posters, the site, the capsule — is built from the parts on this page.
The mark
A ring of dancers holding hands around the S — the gathering, drawn as one shape. Use the full lockup where there is room; the emblem alone at small sizes and as a repeat.
Primary — gold on ink
Posters, night sections, garment prints. The default.
Daylight — gold on bone
Site, tickets, merch tags. Keep the mark at least 28 mm wide.
Emblem only
Avatars, stamps, hat crowns, repeat patterns. Never below 18 mm.
Clear space & don’ts
Keep clear space equal to the height of the S on all sides.
Do not recolour the mark outside gold, ink or bone.
Do not stretch, outline, add shadow, or rotate the emblem past 15°.
Do not place the lockup over busy photography — use a solid or washed plate.

Shonana is a gathering platform for afro house and afro tech in Tanzania — music, culture, community, connection.
Body 15–17px, 1.65 line height. Uppercase 11–13px with 0.1em tracking for labels and dates.
Motifs
Four recurring graphics. Any Shonana surface uses one of them, never three at once.
Ray burst
Behind the emblem or a headline. Origin at 60% height.
Mudcloth grid
Linen pieces, tickets, section backgrounds at 12% opacity.
Celestial line work
Night flyers and the Jua na Mwezi tee. Thin gold line only.
Faces of the floor
Community storytelling: line-art crowds in gold on ink.
